Any of these sound familiar?

The groom's family paid the venue deposit
The bride's family paid for the dress
Split 50/50 or by guest count?

→ Settle wedding costs by the share you agreed.
Log the venue, catering, dress, rehearsal dinner and engagement party. FAMI-KAN works out who owes whom so each family pays its agreed share. 50/50, 60/40 or by guest count. No sign up, completely free.

Don't let tedious money calculations ruin a great memory.

Q.

The groom's family paid the venue deposit, the bride's family the dress and cake... who ended up paying more?

A.

Enter both families' payments and FAMI-KAN compares them with the agreed split, then shows who owes whom in one line.

Q.

We haven't decided: 50/50, or by guest count?

A.

You can change the split any time. Try 60/40 or 70/30 and see the result together before you decide.

Q.

What about gifts from parents or cash gifts?

A.

Enter a parent's contribution as a payment by that family. Whether to subtract cash gifts is up to you. FAMI-KAN settles by the split you agree on; it does not give tax advice.

FAMI-KAN needs no sign-up and no install. Set a ratio once — Adult 1.0, Child 0.5 — and it applies to every expense after that. We compare it with other apps, including where they do better.

Why FAMI-KAN is Best

Who pays for a wedding is something the couple and both families decide together. Once you agree on a percentage, whether 50/50, 60/40 or by each side's guest count, the rest is arithmetic that FAMI-KAN can handle. Say 150 guests are invited, 90 from the bride's side and 60 from the groom's, and the families agree to split by guest count: 60/40. Total costs come to $30,000, so the bride's family's share is $18,000 and the groom's $12,000. Over the months, the bride's family paid $15,000 for the dress and catering, and the groom's family paid $15,000 for the venue and the rehearsal dinner. The bride's family sends the groom's family $3,000 and the split matches what was agreed. Wedding costs are hard to track because deposits are paid a year ahead, vendors are paid in installments, and each family pays different vendors. In FAMI-KAN, add each family as a member with its agreed ratio, such as 0.6 and 0.4, and log every payment with its date. If the couple is contributing too, add them as a third member with their own share.

Simple 3-Step Guide

No app downloads or accounts needed.

  1. 1

    Agree on the split

Decide together on 50/50, 60/40 or a split by guest count before anyone enters numbers.

  2. 2

    Add each family

Create an event and add each family as a member with its ratio, plus the couple if they're contributing.

  3. 3

    Log payments as they happen

Each family enters the deposits and vendor payments it makes, with the date and a category.

  4. 4

    Settle and lock

Check the Settle tab for the transfer between families, record it under "Settled payments" and lock the event.

Why we built FAMI-KAN

FAMI-KAN isn't just a calculator. It's a partner that handles the math so you can focus on what matters: "That dinner was amazing", "Where should we go next?" — preserving the afterglow of time well spent together.

The worst part of any trip comes at the very end — when everyone's tired and someone has to sort out the money. Lining up receipts, punching numbers into a calculator, trying to remember who paid what... it brings a cold, transactional feeling to what should be warm memories.

Existing apps are useful, but often too complex or require everyone to install the same app. For family gatherings spanning multiple generations, we needed something simpler — and warmer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Divide each side's guests by the total. With 90 of 150 guests from the bride's side and 60 from the groom's, that's 60/40, so on $30,000 the families' shares are $18,000 and $12,000. Enter 0.6 and 0.4 as the families' ratios.

Yes. Keep the agreed ratio as the default and use "Change shares for this payment only" on anything you'd rather split another way, such as splitting the photographer 50/50. If one family wants to cover something entirely, put only that family under "Target Members".

If they're contributing, add the couple as a third member. For example, with the couple at 0.2 and the families at 0.4 each, a $30,000 total is $6,000 for the couple and $12,000 for each family.

Keep one event for the whole wedding and log each payment with its date. The History tab can be sorted by date or by category, such as venue, catering or attire.

Edit the original payment to the amount that was actually kept. Every family's share is recalculated automatically.

Yes. Record the transfer between the families under "Settled payments", then lock the event. The numbers stay as they are for anyone who wants to check later.

Yes. Every bill-splitting and settlement feature is free to use, and no registration is required.

No. It runs entirely in your web browser. Just share the link and everyone can access it immediately on their phones.

Yes, you can select the currency when creating an event (almost every official currency in the world). You can unify calculations easily for trips abroad.

Yes. You can switch between three views — "Settlement", "By Member" and "By Item". You can see what each person paid and owes, and for any single expense, who is covering how much. Everyone sees why the number is what it is, on the same screen.
