Why FAMI-KAN is Best
Whether late arrivals should pay less depends on how the dinner was priced. If the restaurant charged a fixed price per seat for an iftar set menu, a late arrival cost the same as anyone else, so a full share is fair. If dishes were ordered family-style and much of the food was gone by the time they arrived, a reduced share is reasonable. Say 12 friends book a set menu at $25 a seat: everyone pays $25, late or not. Now say 14 people share $480 of family-style dishes, and 4 of them arrive an hour late. With latecomers at 0.5, the total ratio is 12.0, so those who were on time pay $40 and latecomers $20. A big bukber gets complicated because the whole reservation may go on the organizer's card, people arrive in waves after work, and some bring kids. In FAMI-KAN, the organizer logs the bill, uses "Change shares for this payment only" to set latecomers to 0.5, and shares the link in the group chat. Everyone sees what they owe and can transfer it from home after the meal.

For shared dishes, a ratio of 0.5 is one option. With 10 on time and 4 late sharing $480, that's $40 and $20. For a set menu priced per seat, a full share may be fairer, since their seat cost the same.
