Any of these sound familiar?

Many expenses, unclear amounts
Kids or non-drinkers should pay less
Too many back-and-forth payments

→ Amounts from FAMI-KAN, payment from your usual app.
FAMI-KAN combines ratios, many expenses and expenses for only some people, then nets them into one transfer per pair. Send the result with Venmo, Apple Cash, PayPal or a bank transfer. No install, no sign up, completely free.

Don't let tedious money calculations ruin a great memory.

Q.

A paid the hotel, B the groceries, C the gas. Who should send whom how much?

A.

Enter all the expenses and FAMI-KAN nets them into the fewest transfers. Then send those amounts with your payment app.

Q.

Kids or non-drinkers should pay less.

A.

Set ratios such as adult 1.0 and kid 0.5, and everyone's amount is calculated.

Q.

Do we need to change payment apps?

A.

No. FAMI-KAN decides the amounts and never handles money. Keep paying with your usual app or bank transfer.

FAMI-KAN needs no sign-up and no install. Set a ratio once — Adult 1.0, Child 0.5 — and it applies to every expense after that. We compare it with other apps, including where they do better.

Why FAMI-KAN is Best

The easiest way to use FAMI-KAN with Venmo or Apple Pay is to let FAMI-KAN work out the amounts first, then send them the way you always do. FAMI-KAN never touches the money; it just tells you who should send whom how much. The tricky part of paying friends back isn't the payment, it's knowing the amount. Say three friends take a weekend trip: Jess pays the $450 hotel, Omar the $150 groceries and Tara the $60 gas. Split evenly, each share is $220. Instead of a string of requests back and forth, there are just two transfers: Omar sends Jess $70 and Tara sends Jess $160. Add a kid at half price or a dinner only two of them went to, and working it out in your head gets much harder. In FAMI-KAN, everyone logs what they paid from a shared link, with ratios and "Target Members" for anything that isn't an even split. Then each person sends their amount through Venmo, Apple Cash, PayPal or a bank transfer, and you record it under "Settled payments" so everyone can see what's still open.

Simple 3-Step Guide

No app downloads or accounts needed.

  1. 1

    Create an event

Start an event, add everyone and choose the currency. No install or sign-up is needed.

  2. 2

    Log every expense

Whoever paid enters it. Set ratios or untick people for anything that isn't an even split.

  3. 3

    Check who owes whom

The Settle tab shows the fewest transfers needed, rounded to your chosen unit.

  4. 4

    Pay with your usual app

Send the amounts with Venmo, Apple Cash, PayPal or a bank transfer, then record them under "Settled payments".

Why we built FAMI-KAN

FAMI-KAN isn't just a calculator. It's a partner that handles the math so you can focus on what matters: "That dinner was amazing", "Where should we go next?" — preserving the afterglow of time well spent together.

The worst part of any trip comes at the very end — when everyone's tired and someone has to sort out the money. Lining up receipts, punching numbers into a calculator, trying to remember who paid what... it brings a cold, transactional feeling to what should be warm memories.

Existing apps are useful, but often too complex or require everyone to install the same app. For family gatherings spanning multiple generations, we needed something simpler — and warmer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Enter every expense in FAMI-KAN with who paid it. The Settle tab shows exactly who owes whom, so you send or request just those amounts in Venmo.

With many expenses, that means lots of requests in both directions. FAMI-KAN nets everything first: in a trip where Jess paid $450, Omar $150 and Tara $60, it comes down to two transfers, $70 and $160, both to Jess.

Once someone has sent their Venmo or Apple Cash payment, record it under "Settled payments" on the Settle tab. It's deducted from what they owe and drops off the list.
