Agreeing on which before the trip saves an awkward conversation later. Say eight friends and the groom share a $1,800 house and $1,200 in dinners and activities. Split nine ways, the house is $200 each, groom included. The dinners and activities are split among the eight friends only, $150 each. The groom pays $200 and everyone else $350. Covering him completely would mean $3,000 split eight ways, $375 each. The money gets complicated because the best man books the house, someone else puts down the deposit for the club table, and rounds go on whoever is nearest the bar. Frequently Asked Questions
The groom's share is spread across everyone else. If a $2,700 weekend is $300 each for nine people, covering the groom makes it $2,700 split eight ways, $337.50 each, or $37.50 more per person.
Some options: nothing at all, only his own travel, or his share of lodging while the group covers the rest. In FAMI-KAN, keep him in "Target Members" for what he pays for and untick him on the rest.
If the group agrees, give him a lower ratio, such as 0.8, or a Special Rule like "Organizer -$50". The Special Rule takes $50 off his share and spreads it across everyone else.
Record each $300 with "Give to Organizer" and choose "Organizer pays" for anything paid from that money. The settlement works out the leftover to refund or the shortfall to collect.
Untick them on Friday's dinner and Friday night's lodging. They share only the expenses from the day they were there.
